Fight till the cows come home

“R. Wilson is a poor QB, his stats said it all today.” That was a direct quote from a Facebook post I read today. I watched the Seattle Seahawks play one of the worst games of the season and yet win in the end. The foregone conclusion at the end if the first half when Seattle was 16-0 down was that the game is over and Green Bay were headed to the Super Bowl, how wrong.

The second half rolled in, Seattle was not much better in the second half, at least the offence. Progress was made, a few points on the board and suddenly Seattle looked somewhat like a team. All the drama, well according to what I was watching, it was not until they were 3 minutes to go that Seattle got a breakthrough. So what happened, what was with the dismal play that enabled the defending champions to win in the end, determination.

The team refused to quit, they remained resilient. The Seahawks pushed and pushed, they needed a break and they got it with the onside kick that almost failed to payoff. One of the defensive men for Seattle was hurt and you could see him hold his arm in pain but he was still in the field playing, Richard Sherman would not be substituted, he kept going. I was watching the body language of the players, they were a little down but determined, they would not quit.

During the game Russell Wilson had tried to throw to Jermaine Kearse a few times and each time he tried, he was met with resistance, a pick and each time it was no good. You would have thought that with Jermaine failing to catch a few balls Russell would avoid throwing to him but no, the winning catch in OT was made by guess who,Jermaine Kearse.

Bottom line, it did not matter what the QBs stats were at the end because what mattered was a win and a win is what Seattle got. If you did not watch the game and just heard the results they would say “Seattle beat Green Bay and are NFC Western Conference Champions” no one (except Green Bay Fans & sport analysts) can honestly remember how bad Russell was but everyone knows that Seattle won the game. What matters at the end of the day is how you finish. Those who quit do not see the glory, only those who stand and fight get the title, they see the true victory and win.

Keep fighting, keep going and victory will be yours, you will live to fight another day.
